Let's face it. Most of our kiddos do not like cranberry sauce anyway so we might as well "adult it up" with a little titch of whiskey ... maybe one finished in a Madeira cask! You can use it as the topper for an appetizer OR the traditional way, with a little dollop on your plate. Either way, YUMMY!
Ingredients
- 1 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries, washed with bad ones removed
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbl orange zest
- Juice from the zested orange
- 2 tbl whiskey
Directions
- In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients.
- Cook over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the cranberries soften and begin to rupture.
- Continue to cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until it begins to thicken.
- Remove from the heat and cool completely.
- Store refrigerated in an airtight container until you are ready to serve.
