Nic Christiansen and Barrell Craft Spirits have some Big News for Us!

Nic Christiansen and Louisville based Barrell Craft Spirits are at it again!

Nic has been BUSY raising a new baby and blending new releases while simultaneously helping to prepare their new blending operations space where they will be moving from two 6,000-gallon blending tanks to four and then adding four additional 10,000-gallon blending tanks.  That is a lot of blending power!  The new facility will also provide more space for private barrel picks.  I, for one, love Nic's product and am excited to see the brand's success reflected in this growth.

On a tasty note, we can all look forward to a wave of new releases from Nic.  She and the team at Barrell Craft Spirits are continually sourcing spirits from in excess of 65 suppliers and then bringing them home to blend and age them into exciting new offerings.  Here is what to look forward to next:

Cask Finish Series (two releases a year)  In September, we can look forward to a first release of the Amburana.  This is a bourbon finished in casks made from sustainably harvested Amburana Brazilian Oak.  October will offer us a second release of the Tale of Two Islands.  The Tale of Two Islands second release was finished in the casks from the first release (an 8 year Jamaican Rum finished in Islay Scotch casks). I love this type of recycling!

For those who follow the Batch Bourbon, they are soon releasing the Batch 035 Bourbon and the Batch 004 Rye.

AND, to celebrate their 10-year Anniversary, they will be releasing a small batch 10th Anniversary Blend that will only be sampled and sold at the KY Bourbon Festival.  For this batch, the team used some of the barrels from the award winning Batch 011 and Batch 021 Batch Bourbon.

As always, when I speak with these Spirit Women, I come away with a deep appreciation for their work ethic and dedication to innovation.  I hope you do too!

If you want to chat with Nic in person, you can catch up with her at the Casey Jones Distillery "Bourbon Belles and Whiskey Women" event on October 14 in Hopkinsville, KY.  Come by and meet this Spirit Superhero!
